The exhibition showcases some of the projects undertaken by the Printmaking class this spring.  Students in this class came from high schools all over San Francisco and with varying levels of experience in the arts. For many of these students, this was their first printmaking class; and in a matter of only a few weeks, they were able to gain skills in stenciling, single and multi-color silkscreening and linoleum block printing.

In the printshop, these young artists carried out numerous independent projects while also learning how to work collaboratively. Throughout the session, we were guided by three key Understanding Goals:

1.    How can I translate my imagery and text into multiples?

2.    How does the creative process affect me (how I make/see/think)?

3.    How does the creative work affect others? Who is my audience?

Evidenced in the exhibitions are some of process materials, self-guided projects and collaborative works. The 8.5 x 11 framed prints circling the room are each student’s interpretation of their common theme of “Fantasies & Illusions”. Students printed these works in editions of 20 and shared the collection with each other through a portfolio exchange.

Framed prints are available for purchase for $40. 100% of these proceeds will go directly to these young artists.

Portfolio boxes with a complete set of these prints are available for $150. 100% of these proceeds will go directly towards supporting Out of Site.
