Architecture/Public Art Internship
This paid internship will create public art, designs of public space, and continue working on a master arts plan for the Excelsior neighborhood. This internship gives students the opportunity to work and make decisions like real world architects, urban planners and public artists. All of the design projects will not just remain
“ideas”, but will become real projects that will be installed and seen by the whole Excelsior community. We will be examining the Excelsior closely through tours and interviews with the people who live and work in the area. We will be learning how to make models and drawings to express our ideas on how to make the Excelsior neighborhood a better place. Finally, we will take our ideas and present them back to the community for their feedback. This class will be a combination of field trips out in the neighborhood and design time in professional art studios.
20 spaces available in the class.
Web & Graphic Design/Film Making

Students will learn in depth about the Excelsior neighborhood, it’s community members and organizations and plans for beautification and public art. Students will learn how to work like real world digital artists and how to work as part of a design team. The web design team will also work in conjunction with the architecture/public art class.
